Terms & Conditions

These terms set out the basis on which Sawan Studio offers its watch repair and restoration services. We have written them to be clear and readable, and we encourage you to take a moment to look through them. If anything is unclear, please feel free to write to us at [email protected].

1. Definitions

For the purposes of these Terms & Conditions, the following words carry the meanings given below:

  • "Agreement" means these Terms & Conditions together with any written service quotation or work order accepted by both parties.
  • "Client" / "You" means the individual or entity that brings a watch or timepiece to Sawan Studio for service.
  • "We" / "Us" / "Our" / "Sawan Studio" means Sawan Studio, operating from 145 Thanon Prajak Silpakhom, Mak Khaeng, Udon Thani 41000, Thailand.
  • "Service" means any watch repair, movement service, cosmetic refinishing, strap fitting, or heritage restoration work carried out by Sawan Studio.
  • "Timepiece" means any watch, clock, or horological object submitted to us for work.
  • "Written Plan" means the condition report and scope of work document prepared by Sawan Studio prior to commencing a Heritage Restoration.
  • "Website" means the online presence of Sawan Studio accessible at sawanstux.world.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting a timepiece to Sawan Studio for service — whether by bringing it to our workshop, sending it by post, or requesting a collection — you confirm that you:

  • are at least 18 years of age, or have the consent of a parent or guardian;
  • have the legal authority to authorise work on the timepiece;
  • have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions in their entirety;
  • accept that these Terms form a binding agreement between you and Sawan Studio.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please contact us before leaving a timepiece for service.

3. Service Description

Sawan Studio offers watch repair and restoration services from our workshop in Udon Thani. Our current service offerings are:

  • Standard Service (฿4,500) — A full movement clean, fresh lubrication, and timing regulation for mechanical and automatic watches. Typical turnaround 2–4 weeks.
  • Refinishing & Strap Service (฿8,400) — Cosmetic refinishing of cases and bracelets and strap fitting. Typical turnaround 1–3 weeks.
  • Full Heritage Restoration (from ฿14,900) — Comprehensive movement and cosmetic restoration for inherited and collectible timepieces. Turnaround 4–12 weeks depending on scope.

Services are available to clients located throughout Thailand. Sawan Studio reserves the right to decline any timepiece it considers beyond its current capabilities or outside its area of practice.

4. Client Responsibilities

As a client, you agree to:

  • provide accurate information about the timepiece's history, known faults, and previous repairs;
  • ensure you are the lawful owner of the timepiece, or have written authority from the owner to commission work;
  • collect or arrange collection of the finished timepiece within 30 days of notification that work is complete;
  • settle all agreed charges before or upon collection of the timepiece;
  • inform us promptly if your contact details change during the period the timepiece is in our care;
  • use our website only for lawful purposes and not in any way that could damage our systems or reputation.

Timepieces not collected within 60 days of completion may, after written notice, be placed in storage at the client's cost. We will make reasonable efforts to reach you before taking any further steps.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on the Sawan Studio website — including text, images, graphic elements, layout, and technical documentation — is the property of Sawan Studio or its licensors and is protected under applicable Thai and international intellectual property law.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and view our website content for the purpose of exploring our services. This licence does not permit you to:

  • copy, reproduce, or redistribute our content for commercial purposes;
  • modify or create derivative works based on our content;
  • use our branding, trademarks, or service descriptions without prior written consent.

Photographs or documentation shared with us for the purpose of a service quotation or written plan remain your property. We may use anonymised technical descriptions for training or portfolio purposes only with your prior consent.

6. Payment Terms

All prices are quoted and payable in Thai Baht (฿). We will confirm the cost in writing before commencing work, and will notify you of any variation to the agreed price as soon as it becomes apparent.

  • Payment is due in full on collection, unless a deposit arrangement has been agreed in writing.
  • For Heritage Restorations, we may request a deposit of up to 30% of the estimated cost at the point of accepting the written plan.
  • We accept cash, bank transfer, and major debit or credit cards. Please confirm accepted methods at the time of booking.
  • If additional faults are discovered during work, we will pause and contact you before proceeding, and provide a revised cost estimate.

Refunds: If we are unable to carry out the agreed work after accepting your timepiece, any deposit paid will be returned in full. We do not offer refunds once work has been completed and accepted by the client. If you have a concern about completed work, please contact us within 14 days and we will do our best to address it.

7. Service-Specific Terms

The following additional terms apply to each service type.

Standard Service & Refinishing

  • Turnaround times are estimates and may vary depending on parts availability and workshop scheduling.
  • We will provide an honest condition note alongside returned timepieces, noting anything that may require attention in the future.
  • Refinishing is carried out only to the extent agreed in advance. We will not alter original finishing beyond the agreed scope.
  • We take care to protect dials and crystals during refinishing, but accept no liability for pre-existing hairline cracks not disclosed at intake.

Full Heritage Restoration

  • Restoration begins with a written plan, which you must approve in writing before work commences.
  • Any hand-fabricated replacement parts will be documented and disclosed in the written plan.
  • We carry out restoration at the pace the work requires, and will keep you informed of progress at agreed intervals.
  • We will preserve original patina and period-correct detail wherever possible and consistent with the agreed scope.
  • Changes to scope during a restoration will be confirmed in writing and may affect the final cost and timeline.

8. Disclaimers

Our services are provided on an honest, best-efforts basis. While we take considerable care with every timepiece, we cannot:

  • commit to a specific ongoing rate of accuracy for repaired movements, as this depends on the age and condition of the watch;
  • accept responsibility for pre-existing faults not disclosed at intake that become apparent during service;
  • commit to timelines affected by parts availability or factors beyond our reasonable control;
  • provide appraisals of monetary value or authentication of timepieces — we offer technical opinions, not formal valuations.

Our website is provided for information purposes. While we take care to keep content accurate, we cannot commit to its completeness at all times and recommend contacting us directly for current service details.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by Thai law, Sawan Studio's total liability for any claim arising from a service shall not exceed the amount paid for that specific service.

We shall not be liable for:

  • indirect, consequential, or incidental losses;
  • loss of sentimental or monetary value attributed to a timepiece;
  • delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control (force majeure), including supply chain disruption, natural events, or public health measures.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sawan Studio, its staff, and representatives from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from: your breach of these Terms; inaccurate information provided at intake; or any claim that you did not have authority to commission work on the submitted timepiece.

11. Termination

Either party may withdraw from a service arrangement before work has commenced, by giving written notice. If you withdraw after work has begun, you will be responsible for the reasonable cost of work carried out to that point.

Sawan Studio reserves the right to decline or discontinue work if a timepiece is found to have been misrepresented at intake. In such cases, any deposit paid will be assessed against costs already incurred.

Provisions relating to intellectual property, liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution shall survive termination.

12. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any disputes shall first be addressed through good-faith discussion. We ask that you contact us at [email protected] so that we have the opportunity to resolve matters informally.

If an informal resolution cannot be reached within 30 days, the matter may be referred to mediation or, if necessary, to the courts of Udon Thani Province, Thailand, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

13. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with any written service quotation or written plan, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sawan Studio in relation to a service.
  • Severability. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full effect.
  • Waiver. A failure by either party to enforce a provision on any occasion shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
  • Assignment. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our obligations in the event of a change of ownership, provided the quality of service is maintained.
  • Notices. Formal notices may be sent by email to [email protected] or by post to our workshop address below.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

If changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify clients with active service arrangements. Continued use of our services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
